Highlights 2005

8th November 2005: Support from On High for Gutter Project at the Church of St Giles in the Fields, St Giles High Street, London.  Hard hats and a head for heights were the order of the day when Bishop of London, Richard Chartres joined TV heritage expert Marianne Suhr and Timothy Jones, Historic Buildings and Areas Advisor at English Heritage, in a cherry picker lift at the London Church of St Giles in the Fields to clear the gutters and check out the roof in preparation for The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings' National Maintenance Week 2005.

18th -25th November 2005: Information about simple, effective maintenance was available at Oswestry Borough Council's in-store National Maintenance Week display stand.

22 November 2005: The Churches Conservation Trust held an Open Day at St Lawrence's church, Evesham to promote an understanding of the traditional crafts and skills required in caring for our heritage.

November 2005 - March 2006: One Day Workshops on Period Architectural Features at the Brooking Collection, at the University of Greenwich.

A series of workshops on the historic evolution of the window, door, staircase and cast iron features in British architecture was run at the Brooking Collection of architectural detail, housed at the Maritime Campus of the University of Greenwich. The teaching will be accompanied by "handling sessions" during which participants have an opportunity to compare period detailing of various dates.
